The assemblage and installation sculptor, Edward Kienholz, was reviled in his home country of the US but found refuge and appreciation in Europe. This extraordinary book with its heavy metal binding and 141 fantastically grim grotesque and truly innovative installations brings home his dehumanised aesthetic in spades. 

Art critic, Brian Sewell, described Kienholz as "the least known, most neglected and forgotten American artist of Jack Kerouac's Beat Generation of the 1950s, a contemporary of the writers Allen Ginsberg, William Burroughs, his visual imagery at least as grim, gritty, sordid and depressing as their literary vocabulary."

Silvered leather cover. Metal frame and spine assembled with four large screws. Unpaginated. Illustrated throughout in black-and-white and colour. Featuring many pull-out photographic illustrations of installations and assemblages.

Condition. A very good copy. Slight curling to leather corners of front cover. Metal cover has a couple of light marks. Interior pages have great sheen and are excellent throughout.
